The Rotary Club of Longmeadow is deeply saddened by
the
passing
of our friend and dedicated fellow Rotarian Mike Orr.
The
Rotary Board
of
Directors
as well as the officers and directors of the Longmeadow
Rotary Foundation, Inc. have voted to name an annual
scholarship in his honor, in
perpetuity, to be known as "The Michael W. Orr, Sr. Memorial
Scholarship."

Longmeadow Rotary, a charter sponsor of
the Longmeadow Park and Recreation Dept.'s Pancake Breakfast, helped
cook over 700 pancakes at the 2nd Annual Pancake Breakfast held
during Longmeadow Days.

Rotarian President Mike Orr presented
Frances Lonergan with the 3rd Annual Longmeadow Rotary
Scholarship. Frances, a senior at Longmeadow High School, is a
member of the Longmeadow Interact Club, Mock Trial and the Cross
Country and Track teams. She has taken
part in missions trips to Arizona and Baltimore where she helped
build homes. Frances will be attending Loyola University - Chicago
in the fall. We wish her the best on her future studies.

May, 2007 Presented the 2nd Annual Longmeadow Rotary Scholarship to Matt
Hibert.

Members of the Longmeadow Rotary Club and the Longmeadow High School
Interact Club took part in the Third Annual Spring Clean-up of Molly's
Gift Playground at Greenwood Park.

19, 2007 Participated in the 1st Longmeadow Parks and Recreation's Pancake
Breakfast as a Platinum and Charter Sponsor. Members of the Club
also cooked the Breakfast.

Donated a popcorn machine and cart to Glenmeadow Retirement
Community for use in their community room and at various on-site events.

Songs
for Seats
March 26, 2007 The Rotary Club of Longmeadow presented the
Longmeadow School Committee with a check for $4,200 from its recent
Songs for Seats concert. The money will be used to help renovate the
Longmeadow High School auditorium. With this donation, Longmeadow Rotary
has donated $12,800 to the School Committee which has been used to
repair all the seats in the High School auditorium and will be used to
paint the auditorium this summer. The Rotary Club of Longmeadow thanks
the people of Longmeadow for their support of this project.

Held 3rd Songs for Seats concert featuring Francesco Attesti,
Annika Kaschenz, John Morgan, the Longmeadow High School Lyrics, the
Accidentals and Chamber Orchestra
Spring 2006
Mike Barrett and Friends (Bluegrass music)
Held two concerts to raise money refinish the seats in Longmeadow High School
auditorium. Raised enough money to complete to project.
Fall 2005 Francesco and Anika (Classical music)

Conducted a Food/ Blanket Drive to
support the Open Pantry Fall 2007, Fall 2006,

Conducted an Annual Blood Drive with
Mercy Hospital

Held the dedication for the
Molly Gift Playground at Greenwood Park in May, 2006. This playground was
the first project the Rotary Club conducted in 1996-1997.

Donated $1,000 to the
YWCA
Womens Shelter to help establish a library at the Battered
Womens Shelter.

Each year at Christmas the
Longmeadow Rotary has collected gifts that are donated to the YWCA
Womens
Shelter.

2003 / Started an
Interact Club
at Longmeadow High School.
Interact is a
Rotary sponsored service organization for high school age students.

2006 / Presented the first
Rotary Scholarship to Amanda Marsh. This scholarship is presented to a Longmeadow High School senior.

Each year we send three sophomores
from Longmeadow High School to the
Rotary
Youth Leadership Award, a one day program to help foster youth leadership.

Hosted the Group Study Exchange,
each of the past three years. GSE is a Rotary program in which a team of young
professionals lead by a Rotarian is sent to a foreign country to learn about life in the
host country, business practices, cultural differences, etc.

Rotary/ ABC Golf Tournament
to
benefit both Longmeadow Rotary and the Longmeadow Chapter of ABC (A Better Chance).

Rotary Speakers Forum is
televised on Longmeadow Community TV.
The various speakers who address the Rotary Club are shown on LCTV.
